Philips HeartStart HS1 is designed for use by anyone
Philips is a world-leading manufacturer of portable defibrillators for use in airports, aircraft, businesses, public areas and private homes. The Philips HeartStart Home Defibrillator was developed for use by anyone, at any time and in any place, and can be used by virtually anyone in a life-saving situation when every second counts. This award-winning defibrillator has been rated No. 1 for ease of use.
The HS1 defibrillator comes pre-installed in its own carry case, with the battery and electrode pads already fitted to the device. Simply pull up the handle on the front of the AED to activate it, remove the electrode pads and begin defibrillation. Calm, clear voice prompts guide the rescuer through the defibrillation process. In addition, the Philips HeartStart features built-in CPR coaching that guides the rescuer through the correct CPR technique.
Philips SMART Biphasic therapy uses a unique combination of high current – to maximise effectiveness – and a low energy dose – to minimise side effects that are harmful to a weakened heart. This AED undergoes a 120-point test before leaving the factory and performs daily self-tests throughout its service life. The defibrillator performs over 80 different self-tests in total, checking not only the device itself but also the battery and electrodes.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is crucial to increase the patient’s chances of survival, therefore delivering a shock quickly after chest compressions is essential. This defibrillator’s Quick Shock feature reduces the time between the “stand clear” prompt and shock delivery. The SMART Pads detect when they have been removed from the cartridge and applied to the patient. This helps the AED determine exactly where the rescuer is in the response process, so it can continue to provide step-by-step instructions.
