We offer a variety of needle disposal containers designed for the safe disposal of used veterinary needles, scalpels, syringes, lancets, and other sharp medical instruments. These containers are puncture-resistant and can be irreversibly sealed once filled, preventing needlestick injuries among staff and waste disposal personnel.
Protection Against Needlestick Injuries with Needle Collectors
Needle disposal containers, also known as needle collectors or safety containers, are made from puncture-resistant plastic. They feature a specialized locking mechanism that prevents reopening once sealed. Used needles, syringes, lancets, and scalpels are disposed of immediately after use in these containers. A marking on the container indicates the maximum fill level. Once sealed, the container cannot be reopened and effectively prevents needlestick injuries, ensuring safety for veterinary personnel and waste management workers. For additional protection, veterinarians may also use appropriate protective gloves when handling sharp medical waste.
Various Sizes of Needle Disposal Containers
Needle disposal containers are available in different sizes, depending on the intended use and the type of medical waste being disposed of. For emergency bags and medical kits, compact containers with a volume of 200 to 300 ml are typically used. These take up little space but are well-suited for the disposal of standard needles. Containers ranging from 600 ml to 5 liters are the standard disposal solution for veterinary clinics and practices. Additionally, there are specialized disposal containers designed specifically for discarding instruments, featuring an appropriately shaped slot. Large disposal boxes with a capacity exceeding 30 liters are also available, ideal for facilities with a high usage of needles, syringes, and other sharp or pointed objects. Veterinary practices may also use blood lancets, which must likewise be disposed of safely in suitable containers.
