Dressing Materials

In medicine, the term dressing means different types of compresses, bandages, plasters, compression bandages, swabs and tamponades, as well as net dressings and tubular dressings. In addition to dressings with wound dressings, there are many other ways to apply a dressing. Therefore, dressing material can be used as a support bandage, fixation bandage, compression bandage and also as a functional bandage or underlay bandage for plaster casts. In summary, dressings can be divided into three categories: Cover dressings to protect against contamination, pressure dressings to prevent bleeding and restraining dressings for immobilization. In our online store we offer you a comprehensive range of different bandages. Bandages and compression bandages in different lengths and sizes, absorbent compresses and various plasters, but also bandage dispensers, so that no wishes remain open.
HARTMANN Omnipor Fixation tape
For dressing fixation and coverage, and for securing measuring instruments, cannulas, etc., a wide variety of fixation tapes are required to meet the different requirements in terms of indications and skin types.
Made from white nonwoven material with a synthetic rubber adhesive applied in strips; water-repellent impregnated; no skin maceration due to extremely high air and water vapour permeability; particularly suitable for long-term dressings and for patients with hypersensitive skin.

Application:
For all types of dressing fixation, for securing probes, cannulas, catheters or measuring instruments in patients with sensitive skin. When applying, ensure the skin is dry and clean.

Characteristics:
All Omni fixation tapes are hypoallergenic and, thanks to their adhesive, particularly skin-friendly and breathable.

The tapes can be easily torn by hand, yet adhere securely and can be removed without leaving any residue.

Omni fixation tapes do not absorb X-rays and therefore do not need to be removed for X-ray examinations.

HARTMANN Pagasling non-sterile, Gauze swabs
The Pagasling gauze swabs are an indispensable aid in all medical fields. The wide range of sizes in the swab assortment, together with practical pack sizes, always enables indication-related and therefore economical use.

Application:
For haemostasis and wound cleansing as well as for large-area skin disinfection.

Characteristics:
The Pagasling loop-gauze swabs made of surgical gauze EN 14079-VM 20, 20-thread, are produced from a single piece of gauze and are looped so tightly that all cut edges are securely enclosed inside the swab. They have a high absorption capacity and are used for haemostasis and wound cleansing as well as for large-area skin disinfection.

Characteristics:
A particularly effective two-layer nonwoven is used for the outer covering: the wound-facing layer made of hydrophobic polyamide fibres does not absorb any liquid itself and thus helps prevent adhesion to the wound. By contrast, the inner side of the nonwoven made of hydrophilic cellulose fibres has a high capillary action, through which secretions are quickly transported into the absorbent core.

Highly bleached tissue pulp distributes the secretions so that the storage capacity of the absorbent core can be used more effectively.

The absorbent core made of soft cellulose fluff has a high absorption capacity and good cushioning properties.

A moisture-repellent yet breathable layer of polypropylene nonwoven on the back of the dressing counteracts strike-through of secretions and therefore also serves as contamination protection.

Zetuvit is sealed all around and embossed particularly softly at the ends. A blue thread marks the back of the dressing to prevent application errors.

HARTMANN Peha-crepp single
Peha-crepp is a super-elastic fixation bandage with a particularly high cotton content. It has an extensibility of approx. 160% and offers excellent wearing comfort.

Application:
For all types of fixation dressings, especially on joints and on conical and rounded parts of the body; very suitable for patients with sensitive skin.

Characteristics:
Thanks to the high elasticity of the fabric, Peha-crepp can be applied quickly and easily to all parts of the body without reverse turns. Just a few turns are sufficient to securely fix wound dressings.

The bandages stay particularly securely in place thanks to the crimped weave structure and do not slip. The high elasticity is maintained even during prolonged wear.

Peha-crepp does not constrict and does not restrict blood circulation or joint movement.

The open fabric structure makes Peha-crepp particularly lightweight, breathable and comfortable to wear.

Peha-crepp can be sterilised (steam A 134°C).

Various versions of Peha-crepp are available as bulk packs containing 100 bandages in compact packaging, which offers not only economic but also ecological benefits: the compact packaging saves on packaging material, helps avoid waste and reduces transport and storage volume.

HARTMANN Pehalast single
Pehalast is an elastic gauze bandage made of pure cotton with woven edges. It has proven effective for all types of dressings that are difficult to apply with rigid gauze bandages and do not stay in place well.

Application:
For all kinds of fixation bandages, especially on joints and on conical and rounded parts of the body; when sterilised, also as a direct wound dressing, e.g. in hand surgery.

Characteristics:
Pehalast achieves its 65% stretch thanks to tightly overtwisted warp threads, which also give the bandage a crepe-like structure. This makes the individual turns adhere securely to each other without slipping and conform perfectly to all parts of the body even without reverse turns.

Dressings made with Pehalast do not constrict and do not impair blood circulation or the desired joint movement.

Thanks to the exclusive use of pure natural fibres, Pehalast is highly absorbent and skin-friendly. When sterilised, Pehalast can therefore also be applied directly to the wound, for example in hand surgery. Here, wrapping the bandage directly without a wound dressing ensures the precision required to restore hand function.

Pehalast is suitable for sterilisation (steam A 134 °C).

HARTMANN Sorbalgon Compresses
Sorbalgon is made of soft, textile calcium alginate fibres that transform into a gel-like material on contact with sodium salts, such as those found in blood and wound exudate. This provides therapeutic benefits for wound healing that have not previously been achievable with conventional textile dressing materials.

Application:
In principle, for the care of all external wounds, but especially for bleeding and exuding wounds, because gel formation supports wound healing here, e.g. in venous leg ulcers (ulcus cruris venosum), pressure ulcers, abscesses, boils, burns, as well as wounds that are difficult to manage in trauma and tumour surgery; Sorbalgon T is available for deep wounds and fistula tracts.

Characteristics:
Sorbalgon is not woven, but consists of a soft fibre mat that can be excellently packed and draped. With Sorbalgon, deep and irregular wounds can therefore also be treated optimally, because the adaptation to the wound surfaces, which is so important for wound healing, is always ensured.

Sorbalgon has a very high absorbency. The bacteria-laden exudate is absorbed into the fibres themselves and, through the conversion, is securely retained within the gel structure. Wounds are cleaned quickly.

The gel-like consistency of Sorbalgon also acts like a moist dressing that prevents the wound from drying out and regulates physiological secretion. A microclimate favourable to wound healing is created without an occlusive effect. Granulation and epithelialisation are promoted, the wound surfaces remain supple, which also leads to cosmetically favourable wound healing results.

Due to gel formation, Sorbalgon does not adhere to the wound. Dressing changes take place without irritation of the new tissue.

Sorbalgon contains no active medicinal additives and is particularly well tolerated even with long-term use. Allergic reactions and sensitisation have not been reported to date.

Sorbalgon is available as compresses in three sizes. Sorbalgon T is available in two versions as packing strips, especially for more voluminous wounds.

HARTMANN Telaprep non-sterile, Preparation swabs
The Telaprep swab, made from gauze dressing EN 14079-VM 24b, 24-thread, with woven-in Telatrast X-ray contrast thread, offers the comprehensive safety that is essential in the operating theatre to protect the doctor and the patient.

Use:
For blunt dissection.

Characteristics:
Telaprep is manufactured from a single piece of gauze. As an additional safety feature, the Telatrast X-ray contrast thread is firmly woven in, which means there is no risk of it coming loose either as a whole or in fragments. Even if a swab left behind in the body were to unfold under extreme conditions, easy radiological localisation is always ensured thanks to the permanent bond between the contrast thread and the gauze fabric.

The barium sulphate content of the Telatrast thread is 60% and thus meets the requirements of modern X-ray technology.

The contrast effect, tensile strength and flexibility of the Telatrast thread are permanently maintained.

Telaprep is available non-sterile, in sterilizable folding cartons, and sterile. In sterile presentation, Telaprep is part of the Telatrast Module System which, with practical four-pack packaging as well as self-adhesive, separately attached double control cards, contributes to greater safety in the operating theatre.

In addition, the latest version (final digit 3) features a grid which, for a pack content of ten swabs, provides for two swabs per grid compartment. This enables easier handling of the Telaprep swabs and faster counting as additional support in the operating theatre.

HARTMANN Zetuvit Compress
Zetuvit was specially developed for the management of heavily exuding wounds. It consists of four different material layers that complement each other perfectly and give the absorbent dressing its convincing properties.

Application:
For the management of heavily exuding wounds in all medical fields; for padding wounds.

Characteristics:
A particularly effective two-layer nonwoven is used for the outer covering: the wound-contact layer made of hydrophobic polyamide fibres does not absorb liquid itself and thus helps prevent adherence to the wound. By contrast, the inner side of the nonwoven made of hydrophilic viscose fibres has a high capillary action, which rapidly channels exudate into the absorbent core.

Highly bleached tissue cellulose distributes the exudate so that the storage capacity of the absorbent core can be used more effectively.

The absorbent core made of soft cellulose fluff pulp has a high absorption capacity and good cushioning effect.

A moisture-repellent but breathable layer of polypropylene nonwoven on the back of the dressing prevents strike-through of exudate and thus also serves as protection against contamination.

Zetuvit is sealed all around and has especially soft embossed ends. A blue thread marks the reverse side of the dressing to prevent application errors.
