The Physio Control Lifepak CR2 is innovative in many ways. This AED is easy to use thanks to the simple 2-step plan, and the new central LIFELINK software ensures the device is always ready for use by continuously checking the defibrillator’s status. The CR2 has a modern design with a striking white colour.

Can be operated by anyone
The device starts immediately when the lid is opened. The numbers 1–2 show at a glance which actions need to be carried out. This makes it clear to untrained responders where to begin. The QUIK-STEP electrodes become visible after removing the foil (No. 2). Images on the electrodes show where they should be placed on the casualty. You can start chest compressions immediately once the electrode pads have been applied.

Support during resuscitation
The rescuer is supported by spoken instructions and a metronome. The metronome indicates the correct rate for chest compressions. For use in noisy environments, Clearvoice technology ensures that the volume of the instructions is adjusted automatically.

If you may need to use your defibrillator on both adults and children, you can switch the defibrillator to paediatric mode by pressing the dedicated child button. In this child mode, the defibrillator delivers a lower shock energy when only adult electrode pads are used. The joule level is set to a level more suitable for a smaller body.

Physio Control focuses on innovation
The CR2 uses the innovative “cprINSIGHT analysis technology”. This technology makes it possible to continue chest compressions while the defibrillator analyses the heart rhythm. A pause is therefore no longer required, meaning circulation is continuously stimulated and survival chances are increased.

According to ERC guidelines, survival chances can be improved by up to 70% when CPR is delivered with minimal pauses.

International environments
This defibrillator can be supplied with two preset languages. You can switch between these languages at any time during resuscitation. The Lifepak CR2 is therefore perfectly suited for placement in an international environment. In addition, with an IP rating of 55, this device can withstand impact. The AED has high resistance to dust and water, meaning it can be installed, for example, in a designated outdoor cabinet or in a factory.

WiFi connection
The status of the Physio Control Lifepak CR2 is continuously monitored by the so-called “LIFELINK Central AED Program Manager”. For example, if the battery is low or the AED is not in its usual location, you will receive a notification when your CR2 is connected to the Wi-Fi network. This enables an immediate response to unforeseen situations, ensuring the AED is always ready for use.

The integrated Wi-Fi function also ensures that professional care providers connected to Physio Control’s LIFENET system are informed about the status of an incident. For example, in an emergency the AED transmits ECG data to this system. The necessary information can then also be easily forwarded to connected emergency services.

The CR2 electrodes can be pre-connected to the Lifepak CR2 defibrillator, saving valuable time during an emergency. When the AED lid is opened, the electrodes are immediately available. The electrodes can be used for both children and adults by pressing the child button on the defibrillator.

Shelf life of the Lifepak CR2 defibrillation electrodes
The shelf life of the electrodes is 3.5 to 4 years and they are intended for single use only. Once the electrodes have reached their expiry date, they must be replaced. The conductive gel layer dries out over time or if the packaging has been opened; electrode pads that are past their expiry date may not adhere to the patient in an emergency, which means the AED will not deliver a shock.

Use:
The Physio-Control CR2 electrodes can be used for both adults and children via the child button on the AED. If you use the electrodes on a child, you should press the child button on the AED and position the electrodes on the child’s chest and back as shown in the illustration below. Electrodes should always be placed so that they do not touch each other.
