Compression bandages are among the therapeutic bandages used in veterinary medicine. Venous chronic insufficiency, which can lead to conditions such as edema, venous leg ulcers (Ulcus cruris venosum), or varicose syndrome, is treated using compressive bandages. Additionally, compression bandages are used in the treatment of lymphatic disorders, for prophylactic purposes, and in cases of thromboembolic conditions. Functional bandages, on the other hand, are applied in cases of musculoskeletal injuries and disorders. These bandages primarily serve to provide compression, relieve strain, and support the affected body part. Common applications include sprains (distortions), muscle fiber tears, dislocations (luxations), and tendon sheath inflammation (tendovaginitis). Depending on the medical indication, different types of bandaging materials are used, each with specific properties. However, a strict distinction between purely compressive and purely supportive bandages is not always possible, as different types of bandages may provide both compression and functional support simultaneously.
Compression Bandages Made from Various Materials
We offer compression bandages made from different materials, including:
Cotton yarns used in production are tightly twisted, preserving their elasticity. These bandages, which have textile-elastic properties, are absorbent, skin-friendly, and resistant to ointments and bodily secretions.
Selection of Permanently Elastic Bandages
Permanently elastic bandages, also known as long-term elastic bandages, combine lasting elasticity—achieved through the use of warp yarns made from wrapped polyurethane threads or textured polyamide—with the high wearing comfort of cotton. The processed materials are resistant to aging, as well as to ointments, secretions, and sweat. High-quality padding bandages may be added beneath these materials to increase comfort and pressure distribution.
Selection of Foam Rubber and Foam Bandages
These bandages offer additional vertical elasticity. They are available in various thicknesses and can be used for a range of applications. For certain injury types, they may be combined with fixation bandages to ensure secure application and stabilization.
