Valetumed E-Selen supports the increased requirement for vitamin E and selenium, especially in sport and high-performance horses. Muscle tension and hardness caused by vitamin E deficiency can be improved, thereby optimising physical resilience, willingness to perform and so-called rideability. Selenium supports cell protection in particular. Both substances are necessary in a balanced ratio for the skeletal and cardiac muscles.
Practical tip: Adding Valetumed E-Selen as a supplement to the daily concentrate/roughage ration over a longer period or year-round is possible without problems and improves results.
In all sport and high-performance horses, the locomotor system—especially the musculature—is subjected to the highest stresses. The sensitive muscle fibres must be protected from destruction by harmful substances and adequately supplied with oxygen and nutrients. The body can only fulfil these tasks if vitamin E, selenium and lysine are provided regularly.
Directions for use: Large horses (approx. 500 kg live weight) 30 g per day; young horses and ponies 15 g per day, added to the feed. In case of heavy physical exertion, twice the amount may be administered. Due to the higher selenium content, the daily ration should not be increased more than fourfold. To achieve optimal supply, the feeding period of Prebiotic E-Selen should be at least three weeks. The feeding period can be extended to up to 8 weeks before athletic exertion and up to 4 weeks after athletic exertion and improves results. May only be obtained through authorised veterinarians and after their thorough feeding consultation.

Vitamin E deficiency can lead to muscle tension and stiffness as well as inflammation and degeneration of the musculature. Selenium is important for protecting cell membranes (free-radical scavenger) and is necessary for the function of glutathione peroxidase (breakdown of free radicals); in selenium deficiency, impairment of the skeletal and cardiac musculature is possible.
