The NMP22 BladderChek test is a rapid, simple and non-invasive test which, together with conventional diagnostic procedures, supports the detection and monitoring of bladder cancer. The test detects a nuclear matrix protein released from urothelial tumour cells. According to published studies, sensitivity is > 82% (up to 94%, depending on tumour stage) and specificity is 76%. In combination with urine cytology, sensitivity increases to almost 100%.

As the results are available within 30 minutes, they can be communicated to the patient during the same doctor’s visit. This provides a fast and cost-effective aid in the detection of bladder cancer in at-risk patients.
