With this special model, training in geriatric nursing is given particular recognition. It proves to be the ideal aid for teachers in geriatric care. With this model, all relevant procedures can be practised in a realistic way. The external appearance of this special nursing manikin is impressively modelled on the look of an older person. Wounds depicted specifically on the body, such as age spots (normal and with malignant characteristics), skin inflammation under the female breast and a pressure ulcer, complete the appearance and further enhance the model’s educational value.
The following nursing procedures can be practised:
- female and male bladder catheterisation
- prostate examination (stage B)
- stoma care (ileostomy and colostomy)
- tracheostomy care (irrigation and suctioning)
- care of percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG)
- changing dentures (upper and lower jaw), oral hygiene
- application of medication to the eyes
- personal hygiene, hair care, positioning techniques
- enema care (female), oral and nasal irrigations
- i.m. injection (4 injection sites)
- ear irrigations, insertion of hearing aids
- dressings on fingers and toes (movable and individually moulded)
- wound care, dressing practice, pressure ulcer care
