In developing this lifelike reproduction of a human skull, a real human skull was digitised using state-of-the-art technology and then idealised for medical training purposes. This means the skull has been perfectly adapted to the anatomical ideal; all anatomical details and structures are present and correspond to the textbook. The 3-part model consists of the skull base, skullcap and mandible. The teeth correspond to a real set of teeth in terms of tooth alignment and interdental spaces. The mandible is mounted with mobility and is removable. The skullcap is aligned to the skull base by unbreakable metal pins and held in place by strong magnets, so no obtrusive hooks are required, no pins can break and no gap forms between the skull base and skullcap. This clearly distinguishes the model from competing models with plastic pins or obtrusive metal hooks. The skull corresponds in size and proportions to an average European adult.
