With Thermo Scientific Dermatophyte Selective Agar (Taplin), dermatophytes and other fungi can be selectively isolated and rapidly differentiated. The medium contains cycloheximide, gentamicin and chlortetracycline, which suppress accompanying bacterial flora as well as, in part, the growth of other yeasts and moulds. A colour change in the medium distinguishes dermatophytes from other fungi that may be present.
