The Super OB Susie birth simulator was developed to help educators teach learners at all levels the skills required for managing pregnancy and childbirth. The anatomically correct pelvis and the full-term foetus allow learners to develop clinical skills and apply them in scenario-based practice. The modular design allows functionality to be expanded as training requirements increase.

- Vertex delivery.
- Ritgen perineal manoeuvre.
- Breech delivery (frank breech, breech-foot presentation and mixed forms).
- Pinard manoeuvre.
- Simulation of shoulder dystocia.
- Practise emergency interventions such as the McRoberts manoeuvre, suprapubic pressure, Lovset’s manoeuvre for arm delivery, and Woods’ manoeuvre (rotation).
- Carry out placenta and umbilical cord exercises (afterbirth, placenta praevia partialis, nuchal cord, umbilical cord prolapse and many others).
- Practise umbilical cord procedures such as clamping and cutting.
- Demonstrate internal rotation, delivery/expulsion and external rotation of the baby during birth.
- Practise delivery using real instruments such as a vacuum extractor and obstetric forceps.
- Simulate nasal and oral suctioning.

Demonstrate the stages of labour, engagement into the pelvis, rotation and delivery.
Smooth, soft newborn skin
Apply the vacuum cup and perform the delivery.
Removable abdominal wall
Visualise and understand the “inside view” of foetal movements.
Realistic umbilical cord
Practise realistic clamping and cutting.
Breech presentations
Practise emergency measures for breech delivery (Pinard, Mauriceau, Ritgen, Lövset).
Afterbirth
The placenta with removable cotyledons to practise recognising retained placental tissue.
