Tamponade strips, 30 cm long, specially designed for narrow-lumen fistula tracts and puncture channels.
Sorbalgon is made of soft, textile calcium alginate fibres which, on contact with sodium salts such as those present in blood and wound exudate, are converted into a gel-like material. This provides therapeutic advantages for wound healing that conventional textile dressing materials have not previously been able to achieve.
Application:
In principle for the treatment of all external wounds, but especially for bleeding and exuding wounds, because gel formation supports wound healing here, e.g. venous leg ulcer (ulcus cruris venosum), pressure ulcers, abscesses, boils, burns, as well as wounds that are difficult to manage in trauma and tumour surgery; Sorbalgon T is available for deep wounds and fistula tracts.
Characteristics:
Sorbalgon is not woven but consists of a soft fibre matrix that can be packed and draped excellently. Sorbalgon therefore also enables optimal treatment of deep and irregular wounds, because the adaptation to the wound surfaces—so important for wound healing—is always ensured.
Sorbalgon has a very high absorbency. The germ-laden exudate is absorbed into the fibre itself and securely retained in the gel structure after conversion. Wounds are cleaned quickly.
The gel-like consistency of Sorbalgon also acts like a moist dressing, preventing the wound from drying out and regulating physiological secretion. A microclimate favourable for wound healing is created without an occlusive effect. Granulation and epithelialisation are promoted, the wound surfaces remain supple, resulting in cosmetically favourable wound-healing outcomes.
Due to gel formation, Sorbalgon does not adhere to the wound. Dressing changes can be carried out without irritating the newly formed tissue.
Sorbalgon contains no added active substances and is particularly well tolerated even with long-term use. Allergic reactions and sensitisation have not been reported to date.
Sorbalgon is available as compresses in three sizes. As tamponade strips, specially for more voluminous wounds, Sorbalgon T is available in two versions.
